The Lyric Theatre was originally opened in 1909 by Cooper Davis and Curley Aspholm. Support from the community seems to have been thin with several appeals from the paper to show support of a local business. It appears to have been moved to the east room of the Temple building and reopened by Al Davis on September 23, 1915. In 1916, G.H. Dale purchased the theatre from Davis and made improvements such as elevating the floor, and adding an electric piano and opera chairs. With the upgrades, the theatre saw a boost in attendance and greater support from the community.
