The Shannon Mill and townsite opened in the late-1940’s. Movies were screened in the hall from the early-1950’s to the late-1950’s. The townsite and timber mill was closed down in 1968. The hall was moved to Walpole in the 1970’s. The rest of the builings were moved to Manjimup. The site is now a campsite, with a few ruins left.
