First designed as a 6,000-seat cinema by the architect Carlos Crombe, it suffered a fire before the scheduled 1946 opening and the project went into the hands of architect Carlos O. Vergara who finished constructing the cinema with 2,600 seats, opening on 24th June 1948.
In the 1980’s it was converted into a 5 screens multiplex and changed its name to Macro Cosmos. Today is closed and abandoned but there are some news about opening a cultural centre on it. In 2016 the auditorium was demolished, leaving only the front of the building standing to house the entrance to the new cultural centre.
