This was operated by Kerr Theatres, who had also owned the preceding Frontier Drive-In. This was built to replace the Frontier after a dam project forced its closure.

If you put in the address on Historic Aerials, it just takes you to downtown. The drive-in is way north of the city next to Illinois Drive as seen in the 1983 aerial view. It was gone by 1994.

I hate myself for caring, but please note the spelling of the Hi-Vu. With hyphen, without E.

The June 10, 1964 issue of Motion Picture Exhibitor reported: “Earl Kerr has opened the new Hi-Vu Drive-In, Knoxville, Ia. The new drive-in replaces the Frontier Drive-In. The federal Red Rock dam project necessitated the move.”

A more accurate address (at least for Google) is 978 IA-14, Knoxville, IA which is next to the entrance.

Today, the property itself is empty with little indication that a drive-in once existed apart from the general outline.

A building sits where the projection booth/concession stand once stood. However, the building appears newer and does not have the requisite holes in the wall for the projectors. http://tinyurl.com/jq2g9el
