Located on Waterloo Road, South Shore. The Omega Cinema was a conversion of a Masonic Hall, and opened on 2nd February 1912. It is an attractive building which has a beatutiful cream-tiled façade with a central pediment. It was a short lived venture having closed by January 1913.
By 2009 it was operating as a Local Market discount store and by 2014 it was a New Market discount store. That closed in 2021 and by 2022 it was an Essentionals Household Goods store.
On the evening of 21st February 2026 a huge fire which began along the parade of shops quickly passed along and engulfed the Omega Cinema building. Only the facade survived, and there is doubt whether that will be saved from demolition.

The only reference I can find to this cinema suggests that it was at 35 Waterloo Road, virtually opposite the Waterloo Picture House which opened in April 1912. It was not advertising films in January 1913.
It is the building next door that has burned down, not this one. It still stands
