The Odeon Theatre was opened in 1957 adjacent to the St. James Theatre. It was built for and operated by Kerridge-Odeon. The cinema contained a small indoor garden surrounding a coffee lounge, and it was New Zealand’s first air-conditioned public building. Closed in 1999 together with the adjacent West End Theatre Centre The former cinema went into retail use which had closed by 2017.
