The Ravensworth Cinema was the first purpose-built cinema in Gateshead. It was designed by architects Henry Gibson & Pascal Joseph Stienlet, and built for Ralph Allen & T.F. McDonald of Wallsend. Seating was on a stadium plan, with a raised stepped section at the rear, rather than the usual overhanging balcony.

The Revensworth Cinema was modernised in 1939. It closed in 1956 and became a carpet warehouse. It was demolished in 1969.
