Located at 39 High Street near Henry Street. The Hampton Theatre was an African-American theatre, named after Hampton Institute which had been attended by the late Booker T. Washington. The Hampton Theatre was opened in December 1916. It presented vaudeville and movies and by 1920 was managed by C.F. Toliver. It was rebuilt, reopening as the Strand Theatre on September 3, 1923 and was still operating as the Strand Theatre in October 1926.
Later reverting back to the Hampton Theatre name, it was still open in 1933.
