I worked at the 78 Drive In Theatre from 1962 to 1968. I started off popping popcorn and pulling sodas. I eventually sold tickets, changed the marquee, and picked up the trash off the field.
Before I worked at the theatre, my Dad, Charles was the projectionist and assistant manager from about the time the theatre opened until about 1960.
Between hanging with my Dad when he worked there and then later when I worked there I have many memories of that theatre. In the summer evenings it was a great place to see movies with the family or a date – Though you needed one of those mosquito repellent coils, to be honest.
This theatre was owned and operated by Malco Enterprise out of Memphis.
