This twin cinema was located at the original Almondvale Regional Shopping Centre. The Cinema entrance was adjacent to the Presto Supermarket and car park. The auditoriums were above the supermarket side by side with the projection room running along the back of both. The front entrance consisted of one pair of doors with a large window to the right hand side which held a display of two quad poster frames one above the other. On entering the foyer the Box Office was to the right and the Kiosk to left adjacent to the staircase entrance to the upper foyer. Also on the ground floor were the managers office and two storerooms. At the top of the staircase was the upper foyer which contained toilets and a staff room all emergency exits were at this level and led to the rooftop car park of the shopping centre.
The Cinema was opened on Tuesday 30th September 1980 as part of the Caledonian Associated Cinemas circuit with “Kramer Vs Kramer” in cinema 1 (168 seats) and “Superman” in Cinema 2 (165 seats). Prior to opening there was a Press Preview of the Gene Kelly/Olivia Newton John film “Xanadu”, also on Saturday 27th September a free programme of cartoons & trailers was shown every half hour from 11am until 4pm. The opening manager was Leonard Gazzard previously manager of the Playhouse, Dalkeith and Kings Theatre, Edinburgh and the Box Office cashier was Jeanette Wilmanski. The CAC complex also comprised a separate Licensed Bar and a Caley Bingo Hall.
