The Sedler Theatre launched on November 8, 1921 on Electric Avenue designed in a Mission Revival style. The opening movie “Revenge of Tarzan” was a sell-out. But success was short-lived and the theatre was closed within a year. Rivoli Amusement took on the theatre relaunching October 6, 1922. Financial issues continued to dog the location which appears to have closed in 1925.

It re-opened and operated until at least 1952.

The Rivoli was still being advertised in the newspapers in 1952, and I’ve come across several references to it in books and on nostalgia web sites during the pre-and post-war periods. So far the only reference in a trade journal I’ve found was a brief notice in the January 2, 1936, issue of The Film Daily saying that the house had been acquired by the Braddock Trust Co. in a sherrif’s sale.
