Located in the village of Waterhouses, half a mile to the south of Esh Winning, County Durham. The Pavilion Cinema was opened in September 1911. Originally seating 765 and had a 21ft wide proscenium, the stage was 30ft deep and there were five dressing rooms It also operated a cine-variety programming. Around 1930 it was equipped with a British Talking Pictures(BTP) sound system. By 1937 it had been equipped with an AWH sound system.
In the 1950’s it was equipped with CinemaScope and was operated by C & T Cinemas. It was closed by a fire on 25th January, 1956.
