In a joint venture, the Amity Drive-In was opened June 25, 1953, by the D.R. Abbotts, the Lyman Grunders, the Ray Pattersons and Mrs. Art Randolph. By 1955 it was operated by Milton Fry & J.W. Naylor of the Boise Drive-In & Broadway Drive-In, both in Boise.
At the time there were already four drive-ins occupying the farmland in the vicinity of Nampa. As advertised in the Idaho Free Press, they were the Nampa-Caldwell Drive-In, the Terrace Drive-In in Caldwell, the Caldwell Motor-Vu Drive-In, and the Temple Drive-In in Meridian.
The Amity Drive-In dropped out of the Free Press after ending its season on a weekend only basis in September 1958, and by summer 1961 only the Nampa-Caldwell Drive-In and Terrace Drive-In were advertised.
The approximate location today would be across Amity Avenue from the Nampa Dog Park.
