It was equipped with a British Talking Pictures(BTP) sound system. By 1937 it had been re-named Comet Cinema, named after the de Havilland airplane of that name which had won the Great England to Australia Air Race of 1934, taking 70 hours, 54 minutes and 18 seconds after it took off from Mildenhall airfield.
By 1953 it had been equipped with a British Acoustic(BA) Duosonic sound system. By 1958 CinemaScope had been installed and the proscenium had been widened to 30ft.
The Comet Cinema was still open in 1966, but later became a bingo club. It was demolished and a Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall was built on the site.
