The Knickerbocker Theatre was one of the Komm Circuit Theatres. It was a very busy theatre in its day. It was located just east of Grand Avenue at Compton, thus later getting its Compton name. It was located on Park Avenue so the name change went with the street. Komm ran clean and efficient theatres and catered to their neighborhoods.
The theatre was bought by the University with plans to demolish it and expand the medical part of the university but it never reached as far as Compton. The theatre later became a Paint Supply house.
