Movietime Cinema 8 was a multiplex which appears to have opened June 15, 1990 in what was the Nichols Plaza. Five months later, the city’s only other theatre, the Townline Cinema closed.
Movietime expanded to ten screens and the plaza housing it was renamed the Walmart Plaza. Under new operators after a brief closure in 2001, the theatre was renamed the Canandaigua Theaters. In 2011, the theatres were under new owners, Rochester Theatre Management.
