The Slotnick & Canter Circuit bought Canandaigua Airport land and created a 12-ramp, $200,000 drive-in in 1948. It was the circuit’s 15th outdoor theatre and Rochester architect Michael DeAngelis drew the plans. The theatre launched June 26, 1948 with Anthony Quinn in “Black Gold” & Groucho Marx in “Copacabana”. The theatre was closed in 1984. It was demolished and replaced by a contemporary shopping plaza.

A more accurate address for this theater is 4448 Lakeshore Dr, Canandaigua, NY 14424. This points directly to the entrance road which is now called Timber Wind Dr. Part of the exit road also still exists.
Please update.
Also opened with “Copacabana”. Part of the site is also a drainage pond.
Had they lost track of when they opened, or were there years off, or??
Boxoffice, April 13, 1970: “Sam Gandell opened his Canandaigua Drive-In, Canandaigua, celebrating his 20th year of operation with outstanding anniversary programs, bands, giant searchlights, etc.”
