In 1940, the operator of the aging Iowa Theatre in Williamsburg created a new Streamline-Moderne style theatre for the town. Though on the drawing board as the New Iowa Theatre, this venue opened August 16, 1940 as the Burg Theatre on the southwest corner of the town square with Ann Southern in “Gold Rush Maisie.” The theatre was built on the site of the long-standing Trojan Opera House.
The theatre appears to have closed on January 27, 1957 after showings of “Jail Busters” starring Leo Gorcey & Huntz Hall and Guy Madison in “Reprisal”.

In the 2009 streetview, it looks like this is being used as a bowling alley, which is still listed as open. Sadly, the marquee is gone and the corner entry is boarded over.
