The Peoples Theatre launched in the existing Chauncey Building which had previously held the Ora Williams Barber Shop. Opening night was November 1, 1924. Rechristened as the Wentzville Theatre, it launched with Colleen Moore in “Twinkletoes” on November 9, 1927.
The Wentzville Theatre closed on February 12, 1941 with Carole Lombard in “They Knew What They Wanted”. The theatre was razed to make way for the new-build American Theatre.
