Movie Tavern opened their first Arkansas location January 23, 2018, in Gateway Town Center, joining 22 other locations in nine states. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette noted there were approximately 1,100 seats among 11 auditoriums.
The menu ranges from classic American cheeseburgers to Shanghai egg rolls served with craft beers, wine, and cocktails. With a push of a button reclining guests can order from servers trained in the art of being as inconspicuous as possible.
The comfortable Living Room Lounge can be enjoyed before and after the movie or for just dropping in with no movie. One wall is dedicated with posters of movies filmed in Arkansas or those about the state. On February 1, 2019 it was taken over by Marcus Theatres.
