The Alhambra Kino was opened in 1931 in the capitol of the German state of East Prussia, Konigsberg (now Kaliningrad, Russia). The cinema was designed by architect Hans Manteuffel inside a six-story office building designed by Kurt Frick which also contained a cafe and retail space. Both architects were natives of Konigsberg. The building was one of the earlier examples of mixed-use architecture in Europe, designed in sleek, elegant Art Deco style. It stood on the Steindamm (today’s Leninsky Prospekt) at the corner of Wagnerstrasse (which no longer exists). The building took a direct hit during an air raid in 1944 and was completely destroyed.
