The Rialto Theatre was opened by 1927, and replaced the late-19th century Opera House as Coal City’s movie house. The Rialto Theatre continued to operate into the late-1970’s. It has since been converted into office space.

The Rialto’s address cannot be 605 S. Broadway. A Family Eye Care Center is next door to the left of the theatre at 644 S. Broadway; a CPA is two store fronts down at 650 S. Broadway; and the Coal City Cleaners is to the right of the theater at 634 S. Broadway. The theatre should be approximately 640 S. Broadway St.
