The Gem Picture Parlor opened in downtown Mt. Carmel at 306 N. Market Street. The silent era theatre changed its name to the Gem Theatre operating until 1927. The lobby was used for the next year as a popcorn stand before being sold to department store chain J.C. Penney which converted the space to a retail store.
