Co-operative Hall

Located in Dalton-on-Furness, five miles to the north of Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire (today Cumbria), at the corner of Wellington Street between Chapel Street and Rawlinson Street. The Co-operative Hall was opened as a cinema in 1913. It had a 25ft wide proscenium and a 12ft deep stage. There were two dressing rooms. Seating was provided for 700, some on long wooden benches. It was re-seated in the 1930’s when the seating capacity was given as 523. It was equipped with a British Acoustic(BA) sound system. It was closed in the mid-1950’s and has since been demolished with housing built on the site.
