One of Cloverdale’s earliest silent movie houses was the Novelty Theaterette. So popular, owner G.H. Perry moved to its expanded location in the William Sink Building in November of 1911. Charles Chickazola took over operation of the theatre but hours after the final show of May 28, 1919, the theatre went down for the count in a fire. That fire took out a harness store and two other retailers. Chickazola continued bookings at the Citrus Fair Pavillion until the new People’s Theatre was built downtown.
