Prather and Becker launched the Theatorium in downtown Carbondale on what was West Street on March 23, 1907. On March 17, 1913 under the ownership of Ed Atkinson, 700 new seats were installed with the theatre becoming the Yale Theatre.
When the Barth Theatre was opened on March 1, 1920, the Yale Theatre was closed and converted to an auto repair shop. On August 23, 1926, the location became the Grand Theatre. Within three months of its launch, the Grand Theatre burned down ending its operation on November 11, 1920.
