Electric Theatre

This was the second location for the Electric Theatre in Larned opening May 11, 1914. It was opened by John Schnack who had been in motion picture exhibition since 1902 with the Edison Exhibition Company. Schnack brought film to the Larned Opera House in 1905 before opening the first Electric Theatre in 1910 opposite of this location.

Schnack transitioned the theatre to sound to keep in relevant despite having two different architectural plans to replace the Electric Theatre with an 800-seat venue in both 1927 and 1930. Schnack was honored with John A Schnack Weeks in Larned for the 40th, 45th, and 50th anniversaries of his entry into the film business. The Electric Theatre appears to have run 40 years likely going out of business in 1952.
