Albany Drive-In

The Albany Drive-In was opened on October 23, 1953 with Frank Sinatra in “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”. It was operated by R.I. Payne & Frontier Theatres Inc. and later by John Beall. It had a childrens' playgound under the screen area.

The Albany Drive-In was closed at the end of the 1960 season. It was demolished in 1965.

A closer address is 9590 US-283, Albany, TX.

The drive-in sat on the west side of the road. A 1964 aerial photos shows the drive-in being torn down with the screen gone.

Today, the property is split in half by an entrance road along with several businesses on either side. There is no trace of the drive-in remaining.
