Located in southeast Austin close to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The Rebel Drive-In was opened on July 11, 1979. It was screening X-Rated adult movies when it closed in 1988. The structures remained standing until around 1989, when Paul Sherman of Rogers tore down the screen tower. The concession building remained standing until around 1998. The property remained vacant until 2008 when a business was built on the site.

Opened in 1979. Closed in 1988.
The Austin Daily Texan, writing a couple of years later about a night at the Rebel, said that its opening date was July 11, 1979.
The drive-in was surrounded by a corrugated tin fence about six feet high. Sound was delivered via “cine-fi,” an AM radio system that required clipping a connector to the car antenna. The article (published Sept. 21, 1981) said that most of the Rebel’s 840 parking spaces were filled on a Wednesday evening.
