Strand Theatre, Warren, Minnesota, 1923

The Strand Theatre opened in 1917 in the MWA Opera House, which had been built in 1910 by the Modern Woodmen of America fraternal organization, and dedicated on December 19, 1910. The building was designed in an Italian Classical Revival style by architect Bert D. Keck, of Crookston, Minnesota.

The Strand Theatre was converted into a roller skating rink for a time in the early-1930’s, and was not wired for sound until 1934. The house closed as a movie theatre around the time the new Warren Theatre opened in 1941, and was converted into a municipal auditorium in 1942. In recent years it has been occupied by a church.
