The Nevada State Journal reported June 29, 1913, that George Schlesinger had taken over the 700-seat theatre about a year ago. A photograph published along with the story was subtitled “Orpheum Theater, Susanville, One of Finest Moving Picture Houses in Northern California". It was listed on Sanborn Maps 1912 at 812 Main Street.

The theatre closed around 1921 when the Liberty Theatre opened and through the years was used for a variety of other businesses. On February 6, 1945, the Reno Gazette reported the old Orpheum Theatre had been thoroughly cleaned for its opening as a youth center.

On May 19, 1948, the Nevada State Journal announced the theatre was purchased by T&D Jr. Enterprises two years ago and plans were in motion to tear most of it down and build a new theatre named the Pine Theatre.

It’s unexplained why T&D who went as far retaining architect Vincent G. Raney and hiring contractors never finished the theatre but on March 7, 1950, the Journal noted T&D’s Marshall Naify was in town inspecting sites for a drive-In theatre.

The old Orpheum Theatre building was demolished in 1963.
