Located on what originally was named Princess Mary Street in West Jerusalem. The Rex Cinema was opened prior to 1939 when on 29th May 1939 five Arabs were killed and eighteen injured when the cinema was damaged by an Irgun (a Zionist terrorist group) mine exploding in the building. It also had a second cinema, the Studio Cinema in the same building.
By December 1947 the Rex Cinema was used by British troops and civilians as well as Arabs.
It has since been demolished.
