Located in the north of the city centre in the Barbes district, close to the Gare du Nord railway station. The Cinema Magenta Palace was opened on 24th September 1919. It had over 1,000 seats and there was also an entrance around the corner on rue Marx Dormoy. It was briefly renamed La Chapelle Cinema and was rebuilt in the 1920’s to seat 3,000 and renamed Capitole. Later taken over by Pathe and re-named Capitole Pathe. It was still open in 1955, with the seating capacity reduced to 1,700. It closed on 28th June 1960 and was demolished in 1962.
An apartment block named Capitole now sits on the site, which has a M C Beni pizza restaurant at street level.
