Located in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The cinema at the Winter Halls was originally known as the Electric Theatre and was certainly active from 16th October 1909 to March 1910 according to press adverts. On that bill was film of Antwerp Zoo and a short called “Call the Plumber In”. It was simply the men’s swimming pool floored over during the winter months with films supplied by Moss Empire Theatres. The Winter Halls were also used for concerts and exhibitions over the years and the cinema operation does not seem to have been entirely regular, one source stating that the cinema would be moving to the Victoria Colonnade on Boxing Day 1910.
A Mrs Fowler brought pictures back to the Winter Halls in October 1923 for what seems to have been a couple of seasons only lasting until March 1925 when her own venture opened at the Parthenon. Following reconstruction and renovation, the Winter Halls was used for concerts and exhibitions.
