The history page of this theater’s official web site (now working fine) says that the house was designed by St. Louis architect Oliver W. Stiegemeyer.

Can we get a better history? The storefronts and ticket booth were indeed covered in vitrolite. To see what it looked like in the early ‘70s, go to: http://gis.hpa.state.il.us/hargis/ and enter 'Salem Marion’ in the search bar. Theater will be the first result.

Cool looking facade. The box office looked like it must have been clad in vitrolite at some point. Storefronts have obviously been extensively remodeled from their original appearance. Photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/ctid5912/
