Henderson Drive-In

The Drive-In was opened by 1948 when it was operated by Roy Turner & Bill Gregory as a portable drive-in located on Highway 1. By 1949 they had relocated to a permanent site on Highway 7 and it was named Henderson Drive-In. By 1955 it was operated by H.M. Sykes and was still open in 1957.

There were two drive-ins located on HWY 158 just northeast of the city sitting on opposite sides. Assuming one of them is the Henderson Drive-In and the other is the Starlite, it will need to be established which one is which before an accurate address can be used.

They are very close to see other. The Henderson is located on 2650 US-1/158 Highway, Henderson, NC 27536, while the Starlite is located on 2565 US 1/158 Highway, Henderson, NC 27537. The Starlite was already demolished by 1970, while the Henderson continued to operate into the decade. The Henderson was probably closed in the 1980s.
