Currently being demolished.
Exactly when will that old theater be demolished? It’s been vacant for 12 years!
I too am always concerned about these two theatres, especially the DIMENSION-150 theatre with it’s GIANT CURVED SCREEN. I was in the general area last night and made a special trip over see if the building was still standing. I love to drive around to the back of the building to take a look at that giant curved wall that follows the curve of the D-150 SCREEN just on the other side of the wall. Last night I didn’t drive back to the back wall cause I saw a car drive in back and park, who knows what was going on? Anyway the building still stands as of 22 November 2014.
This stood, at least as of June 2013. I keep in close touch with a few friends in the south suburbs, and I know they would’ve informed me immediately, if demolition ever occurred here. I still have a bad feeling it’ll be torn down, one of these days.
No Paul. it still stands.
Has this building been demolished?

With any luck, this theater will be reopened soon.
Fortunately Loew’s no longer exists. AMC took them over. A little too late though. I think AMC would’ve left this one and original #1 open.
I don’t think the PG rated version was released until 1979 so I am guessing this was the R version.
Was the 12/1/78 release of “Saturday Night Fever” the PG-Version or the original R-Rated Version?
Thanks for the list JRS40. Now I know where my dad saw “The Onion Field” & “Prince of the City”. I’ve got a list for theaters 2,3,&4 myself, and I’ll look through them and post it here.

That’s okay, the Lansing just down the road will benefit from the closure of the River Oaks. If big behemoths like AMC don’t want your money, then by all means give it to the little guys like Jenco (which owns the Lansing).
Loews used to take such care with their theatres, they are qwuickly becoming the new UA. Run them down, loose attendance and close them.
