Don Palasty launched the city’s second drive-in theatre in 1967. The Rangeland Drive-In opened with 16mm feature films. The theatre was also used for local swap meets on weekends.
Lyon Appleby who built the Rangeland, took on the operation in 1980 transforming the drive-in to a 35mm booth. Challenging weather and the impact of VCRs led to declining attendance as the theatre closed for the season in September of 1984 for the final time. It sat vacant for many years.
