The Cinema Majestic opened in 1915. In 1928 it was remodeled in an Art Deco style to the plans of Lyon based architect Georges Trevoux. Seating was provided in orchestra and balcony levels. It remodelled to the plans of architect M. George Peynet in the early-1950’s. It was closed in 1995 and has since been demolished. A new building on the narrow site containing a clothing store and apartments now stands on the site.
The adjacent Pathe Bellecour still operates as a 10-screen cinema.

The building on this site is not new. It is quite old, probably from the 1850s to 1870s. I’m not even sure the auditorium to the rear has been demolished, but was likely gutted. By the 1970s at least, this was a Paramount.
