The Dusk Drive-In opened September 16, 1950. Paul Klatt of Weatherford Texas built the drive-in and operated the drive-in until he sold it in 1952 to the Valentine family. The Valentine’s operated it until 1959 when they sold to Andrew Engelbrecht who also operated the indoor theaters in town. Engelbrecht only kept the drive-in for a short while before he then too sold it. Do not know who he sold too, but they did not operate the theater from what I was told and it stood abandoned for many years until the Commonwealth Theatre Circuit reopened the drive in June of 1973 and renamed the drive-in the Holiday Drive-In. The drive-in didn’t last very long and closed down. The tower was torn down in the early-1980’s. In 2002, the land was for sale with the old rusted marquee still standing and the foundation of the concession building still visible. The land finally sold in 2007 and a business is on the property now.
