Teenager Anthony T. Paiz and Jesus Romanes opened the Spanish-language Teatro Casino in Hondo. The operator of the Park Theatre & Raye Theatre in town re-positioned the Park Theatre as a Spanish-language theatre on Sundays to siphon business from the upstart youth. The move proved successful as Paiz closed the short-lived theatre.
