The National Theatre is located on the corner of Charles Street and Paterson Street. It was built in 1915, opening on October 9, 1915 with Daisy Jerome & Josephine Gassman Vaudeville Company. Seating was provided in orchestra stalls and balcony levels. In later years it was operated by Launceston City Council as a live theatre. They closed it in 1969 and the building was sold to the printing company Foot & Playsted who still operate from the building in 2019.
