@ridethectrain: According to Regal all auditoriums here are 7.1, including the RPX one. So no Atmos here at the moment. Don’t know about DTS.
@markp: I agree. It’s sad how a theater chain can spend millions on a brand new, state-of-the-art multiplex and then just make all 14 screens flat floating screens. You’re right, they probably just looked at how to maximize height and didn’t think about how the actual projection would look when everything is finished.
digital3d, in my 43 as a projectionist I have seen a lot of crazy things, but none as much as in the past 5 to 10 years. I just don’t get where the industry is heading.
Hello-
i just became aware of this theater and got all excited
thinking they had had restored Loews Delancy but the address
is different. is the Loews Delancy quite close to this
theater.
Loews Delancey 140-146 Delancey St. This place is 129. Cant be too far apart.
Would have been cool if they named it Regal Delancey.
As of around June/July 2025, auditorium 8 has become a large screen gaming room, via TopMod. Auditorium 8 has been retrofitted to have gamers in the back and a couple of rows up front for audiences to watch. No movies.

I was at Essex Crossing yesterday and noticed auditorium 8 had a keypad lock on the outside door and wondered what was up. Then I see the signage around the area touting this new TopMod thing.
I haven’t actually been inside the auditorium, but from pictures online, the two back rows seem intact (where audiences would watch the gaming onscreen) and the gamers are upfront by the screen, backs facing the screen. I hope this doesn’t work out. Hate to lose another movie screen or for it to actually catch on and lose more screens to this. Anyone remember the virtual reality programming a few years back that was in movie theaters lobbies (Regal E-Walk, AMC Kips Bay)? That suddenly disappeared. Never saw anyone using them.
As of, at least, October 2025, the gaming in Auditorium 8 is over. On a visit to the theater on October 21st, it appears some work is being done inside theater 8. Door is locked, but if you look through the door window, some construction or something is taking place. Hopefully, they are going to open it up again as a movie screen. When it first became a gaming area, I had looked inside one day. Most of the auditorium was still intact as it was a movie auditorium. And in fact, no one was playing any games that day.
As of, at least, December 1st 2025, auditorium 8 is back open as a cinema screen. “First” movie back is RENTAL FAMILY. Seating Capacity: 59 seats & 4 Wheelchair Spots.
