Hub Drive-In

Located between Monroeville and Frisco City. The Hub Drive-In was opened by McLendon Theaters on August 3, 1950 with Greer Garson in “Julia Misbehaves”. They were still the operators in 1957. By 1971 it had been closed and demolished.

Found It!

The address was 4419 S. Alabama Ave, Monroeville, AL.

A 1971 aerial shows the drive-in closed and demolished. Afterwards, a Best Western Inn and Mockingbird Inn occupied the property.

There is no trace of the drive-in remaining.

Ralph B. Mann built the new, $52,000 Hub Drive-In Theatre in June of 1950. It was to have opened July 25, 1950 with “Neptune’s Daughter.” Two days later, McLendon Theatres took it on under new ownership but rain cancelled that opening with “Neptune’s Daughter.” The theatre actually opened on August 3, 1950 with “Julia Misbehaves.” On August 30, 1950, the screen tower was flattened by a storm. It reopened the following month.
