Picture Palace Cinema

Located in the village of Clowne, to the northeast of Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The Picture Hall was opened on 22nd June 1911. It was operated by Clowne Cinematograph Co. Around 1930 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. It had a 22ft wide proscenium. In 1935 it was re-named Picture Palace. Still open in 1958 and retaining the original operators, they closed the Picture Palace Cinema in 1961.
