Event Cinemas opened April 4, 2019, with a VMAX large format screen, RealD 3D, and Dolby Atmos sound.

Warren & Mahoney Architects designed the cinema with six screens and 800 recliners, which include double day beds.

As of this opening Event Cinemas now have 20 locations in New Zealand.
