The New Pastime opened March 1, 1911 under the management of C.O. Baird. It was located in a 3-story wooden structure that was rather narrow for its height. Smaller storerooms were at the rear, along the railroad line. Baird operated an opera house next door to the south, likewise in a wooden building. At some point the opera house either burned or was replaced by a larger structure. On the October 1916 Sanborn, the old location of the opera house was the location of a more substantial theatre building, and the old theatre had become a hardware store. The store was later demolished and the site is now a depressingly drab fire/police station.
