The Smoky Mountain Drive-In first appeared in the Motion Picture Almanac series in the 1953-54 edition, with a capacity of 200 cars, owner A. W. Miller. The 1955-56 Theatre Catalog listed it was a capacity of 190, owner H. M. Sykes.
The MPA switched the owner to J. E. Massie in 1963, then C. Green in 1983 and S. J. Cordoro in 1985. The almanac increased the capacity to 270 in 1977 and listed the Smoky Mountain through its final drive-in list in 1988.
