Whalley Bridge is a small town in the High Peak district of Derbyshire. It was also listed in the 1930’s to 1950’s as being in the county of Cheshire. The Princes Picture Palace was opened around 1912 with 460 seats (probably there were several rows of long wooden benches?). It was always independently operated. By 1927 it had been re-named Prince’s Palace Cinema. Around 1930 it was equipped with a Gramo-Radio sound system. By 1944 this had been replaced by an ISS sound system. The proscenium was 20ft wide. By 1953 it had been equipped with an Imperial sound system.

The Prince’s Palace Cinema was still open in 1958, but had closed by 1963.
