Located in the city centre district of St. Pauli in front of the famed Reeperbahn. Built on the site of the Emil Nauckes Variete which dated from 1896. The Ferry Theatre was screening films from at least 1913. It was operated by Hugo Haupt-Ferry. The screen was 7 x 10 meters. In 1932 it was equipped with a Klangfilm sound system. In 1941 the Ferry Theater was closed due to conditions in World War II and it was demolished by Allied bombs soon after.
In 1951 the site at 23-25 Spielbudenplatz was used to build the Union Film Theater (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
